Frequently Asked Questions

  • If not in units, how are items stored?
    Picture IKEA's warehouse section! Your belongings are stored and protected on purpose-built racks tailored to their needs. Bikes go on bike racks, boxes on industrial shelving, etc.
  • Are there any size restrictions for boxes and bins?
    To make life easier, we accept all box dimensions and we have no size restrictions, but here's our rule of thumb: Standard items: If one person can carry your item, it's considered standard. Your first standard item is $20/month, and each additional item is $10/month. Bulky items: If it takes two or more people to carry your item, it's considered bulky. Your first bulky item is $40/month, with a reduced rate for each additional item.
  • What security features do you use?
    Our self-storage facility is equipped with alarms, cameras, sensors, and restricted access to keep your belongings safe.
  • Can you refuse my items?
    Yes. We reserve the right to refuse items we deem not suitable for storage.
  • Do you have a minimum store term?
    You can store your item for any duration you prefer. Note that our plans are monthly, and we don't prorate the month when you retrieve your item.
  • Do you need to pick-up or drop-off an item?
    If you are a new customer and you want to drop off an item, please select which items you need store and check out to reserve your plan: https://www.cachedepot.ca/pricing 👉 You can also email us at hello@cachedepot.ca to tell us which items you need stored and a storage pro will be happy to send you a custom plan.   • What can't I store?
    Items that we CANNOT store and are prohibited include: Flammable materials and liquids, or items that could explode or cause fire Firearms, explosives, weapons or ammunition Hazardous, toxic or radioactive goods, biological agents, harmful chemicals, powder, or materials Pollutants, contaminated goods, asbestos or other materials of a potentially dangerous nature Animals, birds, fish, or any other living creatures Waste or other items which do or could emit any fumes, smell or odour Items of poor cleanliness Food, perishable items, or items made of edible ingredients (e.g. rice, flour, pet food, etc.) Liquids (e.g. liquid food or drinks, liquid cleaning supplies, liquid care products, etc.)
  • What are your hours of operation?
    To ensure a smooth and fast intake process, we do not take walk-ins. Our drop off and pickup times may vary but are approximately: 7 days a week from 9am to 7pm
  • Is storing with Cache Depot secure?
    Yes! We have cameras, alarms, gates, and remember, we don’t authorize public access to where customer items are stored. Your belongings are in authorized hands only.
  • How do I pack my items?

  • Where are you located?
    Our facility is located at 1231 Frances Street, Vancouver. You’ll always meet us in the back at our customer in-take area.
  • Are there benefits of longer term storage?
    We aim to keep our prices affordable, no matter how long you stay with us.
  • Do you offer a delivery service?
    Not at the moment.
  • Do you offer insurance?
    We are insured in the same manner as traditional storage providers. While some companies that sell third-party insurance as an additional service, we currently do not offer insurance as an add-on. Instead, we advise our customers to ensure their items are listed under their existing home or rental insurance coverage for comprehensive protection.
  • How can I access my items?
    Give us one day's notice, and your items will be ready for access or pickup. Your belongings are always easily accessible when you need them.
  • Can I cancel my monthly plan any time?
    Yes! You can cancel your plan whenever you want your item(s) back.
  • Why was my appointment cancelled?
    We will never cancel an appointment without informing you. You will receive an email detailing why this may have happened.
  • Can someone else pick up my item?
    You will need to provide us with their full name prior to the pick up and they will be required to show their ID upon pick-up.
  • How to request a specific item from my storage?
    If you want to grab something specific from a box, request an appointment over email at hello@cachedepot.ca. We’ll bring out the item or box for you without interrupting your plan.
  • Can you help me estimate my storage needs?
    Yes! Email us at hello@cachedepot.ca or message us here with any questions you have about your storage needs.
  • How does storing your things with us work?
    To drop off an item, all you have to do is: purchase a monthly plan book an appointment drop it off and leave the rest to us. To pickup an item: email us 24 hrs or more in advance of your desired date indicating which item you want to access or pick up bring your ID and pick it up!
  • Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
    Yes, you can cancel your subscription whenever you want.
  • What happens if I'm a no-show for drop off?
    You will forfeit your appointment deposit.
  • How do I cancel my plan and get all my items back?
    Easy! Just contact us indicating the cancellation! We will arrange a date for you to pick up your items. Once your items are picked up your subscription will not renew.
  • How long will my drop off appointment be?
    We aim for 5 - 10 minutes but it depends on the size and quantity of items that will be dropped off.
  • How do I cancel or reschedule my drop off?
    You cancel or reschedule your appointment up to 24 hours before your booking. You can reach us at hello@cachedepot.ca or call/text 778-955-4769.
  • How should I pack my items?
    We recommend you securely pack your items inside a sturdy box or rent one of our 102 litre tough totes.
  • What happens if I don't pay or if my credit card payment doesn't work?
    We will retry after a few times within 2 weeks of the missed payment and you will be contacted to update your credit card information. If we cannot successfully contact you or receive payment, we we will begin to take actions in accordance to our Terms and Conditions.
  • Do you prorate partial months?
    We will always prorate your first month. But we do not prorate the month in which you pickup an item. However, if you have a special request, you can contact us and we’ll might able to work something out on a case by case basis.
  • How do your payments work?
    You are automatically charged on recurring monthly basis while you are subscribed to a plan.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
    We accept all major credit cards and some visa debit cards. We do not accept cash or cheques.
  • Why was I charged for my plan before drop off?
    When you first purchase a plan, a deposit is used to secure your reservation. Once you drop off your item, your renewal date will be set to reflect the new date.
  • When will I be charged for my plan?
    You will be charged on a monthly recurring basis from the date you drop off your item.
